National Peanut Festival in Hernando

A peanut-industry trade exhibition and small-town festival in Cordoba's peanut belt, running since 1955, combining an industrial and artisanal products fair with doma horse-breaking shows, gaucho parades and a closing gala night, in the town formally designated Argentina's National Capital of Peanuts, founded in 1955 as a fundraiser by the local Club Atletico Estudiantes to honor the town's peanut growers and workers.

Hernando's peanut festival began as a sports-club fundraiser: in 1955, officials at the local Club Atletico Estudiantes organized festivities honoring the town's peanut growers and workers, and the event outgrew its origins so thoroughly that Hernando was formally designated Argentina's National Capital of Peanuts in 1979.
