Canberra Balloon Spectacular in Canberra
Since 1986, roughly fifty hot air balloons have launched at dawn from the lawns of Old Parliament House over nine days each March, drifting over Canberra, Lake Burley Griffin and the modern Parliament House. Free to watch from the lawns, the event is weather-dependent, so each morning's launch is confirmed only on the day, and it coincides with the city's broader Enlighten Festival.
The Canberra Balloon Spectacular has launched hot air balloons from the lawns of Old Parliament House every year since 1986, making it one of the longest-running ballooning events in Australia.
