Sheki Halva Festival in Sheki
Sheki halva is a hand-painted, twelve-layer pastry dessert with a two-century family-recipe tradition and official geographical indication status since 2019. A festival built around it would center on tasting and watching halvachi hand-paint each batch, though a confirmed dedicated festival date could not be verified in available sources.
Sheki halva takes about two days to make properly, layering roughly twelve sheets of a fine pastry called rishta with ground hazelnuts, sugar, coriander seed, cardamom and saffron, and the recipe in some Sheki families has reportedly been kept largely unchanged for more than two centuries.
