Caye Caulker Lobster Fest in Caye Caulker

Caye Caulker's lobster festival dates to 1994, when the Islanders Veterans Football Club founded it, making it the oldest of Belize's three coastal lobster celebrations. Held over a mid-to-late July long weekend, it fills the car-free island's Front Street and the Split with lobster-focused restaurant menus, cooking competitions, beach games and live reggae and punta music. The grassroots, sports-club origin gives it a more laid-back, community-driven feel than San Pedro's larger version.

The Islanders Veterans Football Club started Caye Caulker's lobster festival in 1994, making it the oldest of Belize's three coastal lobster celebrations and the template the San Pedro and Placencia versions arguably followed.
