Every other year, a fleet of yachts leaves Annapolis, Maryland and sails 753 nautical miles across the Chesapeake Bay, the Gulf Stream and the open Atlantic to reach Bermuda. First run in 1979 with seven boats, the Annapolis to Bermuda Ocean Race finishes off Saint David's Lighthouse and has grown into one of the longer offshore passages on the United States East Coast, distinct from the Newport Bermuda Race that starts farther north.

A 753-nautical-mile course connects Annapolis, Maryland to Bermuda, and covering it under sail is the entire premise of the Annapolis to Bermuda Ocean Race, known to sailors as the A2B.
