Gramado Chocolate Festival in Gramado
Chocofest began in Gramado in 1994 as a joint project between the municipality and local chocolatiers to fill the town's quiet pre-Easter season, and has grown into one of Brazil's largest Easter events, known for a 2014 Guinness World Record chocolate rabbit weighing nearly four tonnes. Running through the weeks before Easter, it fills Gramado's central streets with parades, themed decoration and chocolate vendors.
Chocofest opened its first pavilion doors on March 25, 1994, timed deliberately to fill Gramado's quiet pre-Easter calendar with a new national chocolate festival.
