Gramado Colonial Festival in Gramado
Distinct from Gramado's film and chocolate festivals, the Festa da Colônia is the town's tribute to the German, Italian and Portuguese immigrant families who settled the Serra Gaúcha, running since 1984 from its roots in the rural community of Linha Bonita. Staged at the Expogramado complex each April into May, it groups folklore dance, music and food by heritage rather than blending traditions into one theme.
Gramado's Festa da Colônia began in 1984 as a neighborhood initiative from the rural community of Linha Bonita and has since grown into a formal, town-wide celebration of the German, Italian and Portuguese immigrant families who settled this stretch of the Serra Gaúcha in the nineteenth century.
