Jundiai Grape Festival in Jundiai
Jundiaí's Festa da Uva began in 1934 after a spontaneous grape mutation produced the niágara rosada variety in the city's Traviú district, and it has run from the dedicated Parque da Uva since 1953. Now combined with Expo Vinhos since 2013, the multi-week January-February event mixes grape sales, wine tastings and produce stalls with a full concert and cultural program.
A spontaneous genetic mutation in a Jundiaí vineyard in 1933 produced the niágara rosada grape variety, and almost by accident, that discovery in the Traviú district launched one of São Paulo state's oldest agricultural festivals.
