Santa Cruz do Sul stages its own German-heritage Oktoberfest each October, organized independently of Blumenau's larger festival despite both cities sharing nineteenth-century German immigrant roots in southern Brazil. Long communal tables, chopp draft beer and grazing-style food stands anchor roughly eighteen days of programming coordinated by Assemp, the local business association, in a city otherwise known as Brazil's tobacco-growing capital.
Santa Cruz do Sul runs its own separately organized Oktoberfest each October, a distinct event from Blumenau's better-known festival despite sharing the same German-immigrant roots across Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina.
