Festa da Polenta in Venda Nova do Imigrante
The Festa da Polenta has run in Venda Nova do Imigrante since 1979, when a local priest founded it to preserve the customs of Italian immigrant families and fund community charities. Centered on the Tombo da Polenta, a ceremonial tipping of a giant cornmeal pot, the event pairs Italian-rooted capixaba cooking with folk music and dance in Espírito Santo's mountain interior.
Venda Nova do Imigrante turned a parish fundraiser into one of Espírito Santo's biggest cultural events, and the Festa da Polenta still carries that philanthropic DNA.
