The story

Carrousel of the Nations in Windsor

Carrousel of the Nations has run in Windsor and Essex County since 1974, organized by the Multicultural Council of Windsor and Essex County across two weekends each June. Community halls and cultural centres throughout the region become pavilions representing dozens of countries, each staffed by volunteers offering food, folk dance, music, and craft displays, in a format similar to Mississauga's Carassauga and Brampton's Carabram.

Carrousel of the Nations has run in Windsor and Essex County since 1974, organized by the Multicultural Council of Windsor and Essex County as a multi-pavilion festival in the same general format used by Mississauga's Carassauga and Brampton's Carabram, though built independently and specific to the Windsor-Essex region.

What is special

The part that makes it specific.

01

The place changes

Carrousel of the Nations differs from its Mississauga and Brampton counterparts mainly through its two-weekend structure, splitting the full pavilion roster across two separate weekends in June rather than running everything at once

02

The mystery stays covered

This spreads the festival's spread-out Windsor-Essex venues over a longer window, which changes how visitors plan around it

03

The city starts moving

Pavilions remain volunteer-run and community-hosted, covering food, folk dance, music, and craft or historical displays much like its sibling festivals, but the region-wide footprint across Windsor and neighbouring municipalities gives it a distinctly local character tied to one of Ontario's more historically diverse border communities
