Festival Brotes de Chile in Angol
Festival Brotes de Chile is a folk-music competition held every January at the Alberto Larraguibel Morales Stadium in Angol, Araucania region, running continuously since the early 1980s to promote Chilean root music, or musica raiz. Recent editions draw around 12,000 attendees across the multi-night program, which combines a formal songwriting and performance competition with humor segments and national and international guest acts.
Festival Brotes de Chile has run in Angol, capital of Malleco province in Chile's Araucania region, since the early 1980s, and by its most recent editions has been celebrated as one of the most significant folk-music gatherings in southern Chile, marking roughly four decades of continuous operation.
