Festival Costumbrista de Castro in Castro

Held on the third weekend of February at Castro's Parque Municipal since 1979, this is the oldest and largest of Chiloe's costumbrista fairs. Neighborhood groups run their own stalls under municipal coordination, serving curanto, milcao, chochoca and licor de oro alongside wool and woodcraft stands and cueca chilota performances.

Castro's Festival Costumbrista Chilote began in 1979, when a group of neighbors in Chiloe's capital decided to formalize what had long been informal displays of rural life into a single organized fair.
