Fiesta de la Vendimia de Curico

Held every March in Curico, in Chile's Maule wine region, the Fiesta de la Vendimia de Curico began in 1987 at the initiative of Spanish winemaker Miguel Torres and has grown into the country's most significant wine harvest festival, drawing more than 200,000 visitors. The program includes a grape-treading championship, a wine fountain in the Plaza de Armas, float parades, live music and tastings from wineries across the valley.

The Fiesta de la Vendimia de Curico began in 1987 out of a proposal from Spanish winemaker Miguel Torres, who had built one of the first major foreign wine investments in the Curico valley and wanted a public celebration to mark the harvest, modeled loosely on vendimia traditions from Spain and blended with local Chilean custom.
