Fiesta del Choclo de Hualqui

Fiesta del Choclo de Hualqui is a thirteen-day corn festival in the Biobio Region's Plaza de Armas, now twenty-five years old and drawing more than 190,000 visitors in recent editions. Alongside pastel de choclo, humitas and corn ice cream, it runs a National Father-Son Cueca Championship, a queen election and nightly concerts, making it one of the largest costumbrista-style fairs in southern Chile.

Hualqui's Fiesta del Choclo has run for twenty-five years and stretches across roughly thirteen days each late February into March; recent editions have drawn more than 190,000 visitors who reportedly consumed roughly 200,000 ears of corn across the event's gastronomic park in the town's Plaza de Armas, figures that put it among the largest costumbrista-style fairs in the Biobio Region, well beyond the scale of most single-weekend rural fairs nearby.
