The story

Fiesta de la Chilenidad de Providencia in Providencia

Providencia co-organizes the Fiesta de la Chilenidad, a family-oriented Fiestas Patrias celebration run jointly with La Reina, Las Condes and Vitacura at Parque Padre Hurtado since 1995. Expect rodeo, Percheron draft horses, cueca, folk music, kite flying and traditional games, alongside military and police demonstrations, in one of eastern Santiago's largest patriotic gatherings.

Providencia's contribution to Chile's September independence season centers on the Fiesta de la Chilenidad, a multi-comuna celebration the municipality has helped organize since 1995 together with La Reina, Las Condes, Vitacura and the Federacion de Criadores de Caballos Chilenos.

What is special

The part that makes it specific.

01

The place changes

01 Multi-comuna organization: four municipalities and the Federacion de Criadores de Caballos Chilenos have run this event jointly since 1995

02

The mystery stays covered

02 Percheron horses: giant draft horses, some near a ton, appear alongside traditional Chilean rodeo horses for a rare side-by-side contrast

03

The city starts moving

03 Rural fair format: bingo, taca-taca and kite-flying zones keep the event family-focused between rodeo and music sets

04

The water draws everyone in

04 Military displays: parachute jumps, police dog units and equestrian squads add spectacle beyond typical fonda programming

05

The old stones answer

05 Shared grounds: the flagship event runs at Parque Padre Hurtado, between La Reina and Las Condes, rather than inside central Providencia
