The story

Feria Costumbrista Purisima in Purisima

Feria Costumbrista Purisima is a free, late-February to early-March fair held on a football pitch near Talca, organized jointly by a rural cultural association and Talca's municipal culture corporation. Its twentieth edition confirmed two decades of continuity, with around ten food kitchens, small brewers, craft stalls and three evenings of folk and popular music.

Purisima's costumbrista fair has run for two decades, organized since its founding by the Centro Cultural y Social del Mundo Rural in partnership with Talca's municipal culture corporation on a football pitch, the Cancha del Club Deportivo Pumas de Purisima, just outside the city on the Camino Las Rastras.

What is special

The part that makes it specific.

01

The place changes

Purisima's fair is distinguished less by any single spectacle than by its institutional stability: the same rural cultural association and municipal culture corporation have run it on the same football pitch for twenty consecutive years, a level of continuity many rural costumbrista fairs in the region cannot claim

02

The mystery stays covered

Its deliberately compact structure - roughly ten kitchens rather than an open-ended food court - keeps it scaled to a genuinely local, walkable event rather than the sprawling multi-day fairs some nearby communes stage

03

The city starts moving

Free admission and its proximity to Talca make it an easy addition to a Maule wine-region itinerary rather than a standalone travel destination
