Yixian Ancient City Lantern Festival in Yixian/Huangshan

In Yi County's UNESCO-listed villages near Huangshan, Anhui, lantern parades staged for the Lantern Festival and Mid-Autumn Festival carry traditional fish-shaped lanterns, an intangible cultural heritage dance, alongside zodiac and qilin figures through centuries-old stone lanes, most notably in the ancient village of Hongcun itself.

Fish-shaped lanterns swaying through stone lanes on the shoulders of costumed bearers are the signature image of the lantern parades held in Yi County, part of Huangshan city in Anhui province and home to the UNESCO-listed villages of Hongcun and Xidi within the wider Huizhou cultural region.
