The story

Grande Foire Agricole du Congo in Bambou-Mingali

The first Grande Foire Agricole du Congo ran for ten days in February 2026 in Bambou-Mingali, roughly sixty kilometers north of Brazzaville, opened by President Denis Sassou-Nguesso and closed by the prime minister. Thirteen thematic pavilions covered livestock, agri-tech and food processing, with producers from all fifteen Congolese departments and African Development Bank representatives taking part. A second edition was announced for August 2026.

Grande Foire Agricole du Congo held its first edition from 5 to 15 February 2026 in Bambou-Mingali, a village in the Ignie district roughly sixty kilometers north of Brazzaville, chosen specifically to put the country's agricultural showcase outside the capital rather than inside it.

What is special

The part that makes it specific.

01

The place changes

State backing runs unusually deep for an agricultural fair: the president opened it, the prime minister closed it, and the African Development Bank used the platform to unveil its own agricultural transformation financing for the country

02

The mystery stays covered

Thirteen pavilions organized by theme, from livestock to irrigation technology, give the fair a working-exhibition feel rather than a ceremonial one

03

The city starts moving

Holding it in a rural village sixty kilometers from Brazzaville, rather than in the capital, was a deliberate choice to put farmers and rural infrastructure at the center of the event
