Festival Ponton Miziki in Pointe-Noire

Ponton Miziki turns Pointe-Noire's wild Atlantic shoreline, the Cote Sauvage, into an open-air stage each year, mixing rumba, afrobeat, hip-hop, reggae and jazz across a lineup that can run two dozen concerts over a long weekend. Launched in 2023 by the Institut francais du Congo in Pointe-Noire, the festival was built specifically to showcase the range of Congolese music beyond rumba alone and to draw performers from across the wider sub-region.

Pointe-Noire's Cote Sauvage, a stretch of wild, cliff-backed Atlantic coastline that has long drawn locals for weekend picnics and sunset walks rather than organized events, became a festival site in the last weekend of September 2023, when the Institut francais du Congo's Pointe-Noire branch staged the first edition of Ponton Miziki.
