Feria del Rambutan de Cajon in Cajon/Perez Zeledon
Pueblo Nuevo de Cajon's rambutan fair, running since 2010 under producers' association ASOFRUBRUNCA, gathers fresh and processed mamon chino alongside cultural activities and sports over three days each September, celebrating a fruit introduced to Costa Rica in the 1950s via Golfito botanical gardens and now a specialty crop for a cooperative that began as coffee growers in 2005.
Pueblo Nuevo de Cajon's rambutan fair began in 2010, organized by ASOFRUBRUNCA, a producers' association founded in 2005 by roughly twenty-five growers who originally focused on coffee before the region shifted toward rambutan, known locally as mamon chino, as a specialty crop.
