The story

Festival de la Gastronomie Ivoirienne in Abidjan

Festival de la Cuisine Ivoirienne (FCI) is organized by the Directorate-General of Tourism and Hotel Industries under Cote d'Ivoire's Ministry of Tourism to promote Ivorian gastronomy. After launching in Abidjan in 2023 and touring to San Pedro in 2024, the festival's 3rd edition held its final phase June 12 to 13, 2025 in Bouake under the theme Discovering the flavors of here and elsewhere.

Each edition of the Festival de la Cuisine Ivoirienne turns a host city in Cote d'Ivoire into a stage for the country's culinary identity, organized by the Directorate-General of Tourism and Hotel Industries under the Ministry of Tourism with an explicit goal of using gastronomy as both cultural showcase and economic driver.

What is special

The part that makes it specific.

01

The place changes

FCI stands out for its scale and structure as a genuine culinary competition rather than a simple food fair: its 3rd edition brought together 26 chefs competing across 13 distinct categories, alongside 50 exhibitors and conferences featuring gastronomy experts

02

The mystery stays covered

Government backing from the Directorate-General of Tourism and Hotel Industries gives the festival an explicit economic mission, positioning Ivorian cuisine as both a cultural asset and a tourism driver rather than treating food purely as entertainment

03

The city starts moving

The festival's rotating host cities, from its Abidjan debut through San Pedro to Bouake, also let it spotlight regional culinary variety across Cote d'Ivoire rather than concentrating entirely on the capital's food scene
