The Curacao International BlueSeas Festival is a free street festival in the Pietermaai District of Willemstad, inaugurated in May 2015. Over its first two nights, artists perform throughout what organizers call Blues Village, the festival's temporary name for Pietermaai's streets, a neighborhood often nicknamed the SoHo of Curacao for its historic architecture, bars and restaurants.

What is special

The part that makes it specific.

01

The place changes

BlueSeas stands out for turning an entire historic neighborhood into a temporary music venue rather than confining performances to a single stage: over its opening two nights, Pietermaai's streets are rebranded as Blues Village, letting artists perform directly within the district's restored colonial architecture, alongside its existing bars, shops and restaurants

02

The mystery stays covered

Now in its eighth edition as of 2026, the free, street-level format has helped reinforce Pietermaai's identity as the SoHo of Curacao, a neighborhood already known for creative energy and nightlife, giving the festival a natural home that amplifies rather than competes with the district's everyday character
