Ayia Napa Fish Festival in Ayia Napa
Ayia Napa's Kataklysmos Fish and Water Festival runs three days around Pentecost weekend at Ayia Napa Harbour, pairing fishing-heritage demonstrations, net sewing, trap making, and fish scaling and roasting, with water-based entertainment including a jet ski contest, water flyboard show, fireworks and concerts. This is a genuinely distinct staging of Kataklysmos from Larnaca's separately organised seafront version.
Ayia Napa's population once consisted mainly of fishermen and farmers, a fishing heritage the town's Kataklysmos Fish and Water Festival keeps directly visible through demonstrations of the actual trade, sewing nets, making trapping crafts, and scaling, rinsing and roasting fish, staged at Ayia Napa Harbour as part of the town's own version of Cyprus's island-wide Kataklysmos flood festival, held for three days around the movable Pentecost weekend each year.
