Deryneia Strawberry Festival in Deryneia
Deryneia, self-styled strawberry capital of Cyprus with more than six decades of cultivation history, holds its Pancyprian Strawberry Festival at Anagennisis stadium each late May, now well into its second decade of editions. Free strawberries are distributed in three timed slots through the evening, alongside strawberry cake competitions, liqueur tastings, themed crafts and live entertainment.
Deryneia has grown strawberries for more than six decades and consistently produces the highest quantities of the fruit anywhere in Cyprus, a track record that earns the municipality its self-description as the country's strawberry capital and underpins a Pancyprian Strawberry Festival that has run since 1999 and grown into a well-established fixture on the eastern Cyprus festival calendar.
