Litomerice Wine Harvest in Litoměřice
Litomerice's mid-September wine harvest festival is one of the most internationally recognised vintage celebrations in the Czech Republic, centred on burcak, the young post-harvest wine, poured by winemakers from across North Bohemia. Built around a structured historical narrative depicting Emperor Charles the Fourth's arrival on Friday evening and a Saturday historic procession, the weekend combines bagpipe bands, fencing displays, a torch-lit knights' procession, craftsmen demonstrations and fireworks.
Litomerice's wine harvest festival, held each mid-September in the historic imperial city, is widely regarded as one of the most internationally recognised vintage festivals in the Czech Republic, staged as a large-scale town party that fills the city centre with a substantial cultural programme rather than a simple market of wine stalls.
