Kerteminde Cherry Festival in Kerteminde
Kerteminde Cherry Festival began in 2005, reviving the town's history as a cherry-growing region shaped by northeast Funen's mild climate and long sunshine hours. Organised under the motto Look, listen and taste, the festival runs gastronomy, music and art programming together, and some local estates open their historic cherry parks to the public for hands-on harvesting during the event, typically each July.
Northeast Funen's mild climate and long hours of sunshine once made Kerteminde a genuine cherry-growing region, a history that had faded from everyday relevance by the time the town launched its Cherry Festival in 2005, joining a global network of festival towns built around a single defining local crop.
