Rtveli Wine Harvest Festival in Multiple Kakheti towns
Rtveli is Georgia's grape harvest season rather than one fixed event, unfolding across Kakheti's vineyards each September as families pick and tread grapes into qvevri, the buried clay vessels used for fermentation. Visitors join at small wineries in towns like Sighnaghi or Telavi, treading grapes barefoot and sharing a supra feast with polyphonic singing.
Rtveli is not a single festival with one program and one gate, but the name Georgians give to the grape harvest itself as it moves through Kakheti village by village and vineyard by vineyard each autumn.
