Rockstone Fish Festival in Rockstone
A two-day riverside festival on the Essequibo River built around fish rather than the usual fair fare: deboning, scaling, roasting and smoking competitions alongside a Linden-to-Rockstone cycling race, boat trips to Gluck Island, camping and tug-o-war. Running most years since 2006, it exists to bring visitors and trade to a small mining and fishing village.
Rockstone sits on the right bank of the Essequibo River in Region Ten, and since 2006 the village has marked the year with a fish-themed festival built around competitions most outsiders never see at a typical fair: fish deboning, fish scaling, roast-fish and smoke-fish contests, and a full cook-off judged on preparation of the river's catch.
