Festival Nacional del Choro y el Vino in La Esperanza/Intibuca/Yamaranguila

The Festival Nacional del Choro y el Vino, held annually since 2006 across La Esperanza, Intibuca and Yamaranguila, celebrates the choro, a rare wild mushroom (Amanita caesarea) found in only a few places worldwide, alongside wine made from wild high-altitude fruits. The late-June event pairs this rare foraged cuisine with Lenca-rooted folkloric dance performances.

High in the Opalaca mountains of western Honduras, the municipalities of La Esperanza, Intibuca and Yamaranguila jointly host the Festival Nacional del Choro y el Vino, a festival built around a wild mushroom found in only a handful of locations worldwide.
