The story

Balatonfured Wine Weeks in Balatonfured

A promenade wine festival on Lake Balaton's shore in Balatonfured, running every August since 1932, with around two dozen winemakers pouring close to three hundred regional wines across several stages including one floating on the lake. Many visitors combine an afternoon swim with an evening spent working through the promenade's pavilions.

Every August since 1932, winemakers have set up pop-up pavilions along the Tagore Promenade on Lake Balaton's shore in Balatonfured, making this one of Hungary's longest continuously running wine festivals.

What is special

The part that makes it specific.

01

The place changes

Tastings unfold along the shaded, lakeside Tagore Promenade rather than an open square, including a stage set directly on the water, and the event has run nearly every August for over ninety years, one of Hungary's oldest wine festivals

02

The mystery stays covered

The promenade itself is named for the Indian poet Rabindranath Tagore, who planted a tree there in 1926, giving the walking route a literary namesake alongside its rows of pop-up winemaker pavilions
