Downtown Wine and Champagne Festival in Budapest

First held in 2022 at Szabadsag ter in central Budapest and timed to the Pentecost long weekend, the Downtown Wine and Champagne Festival pairs tastings from dozens of Hungarian wineries and the Young Winemakers Association Junibor with street food and live music over roughly six days, growing by its fifth edition to around forty producers and more than three hundred wine selections.

First staged in 2022 and timed each year to the Pentecost, or Whitsun, long weekend, the Downtown Wine and Champagne Festival, or Belvarosi Bor es Pezsgofesztival, is held at Szabadsag ter, Liberty Square, in Budapest's fifth district, chosen by organizers for its open lawns and shade trees, and run in partnership with Junibor, the Fiatal Boraszok Egyesulete or Young Winemakers Association, whose members are typically in their thirties.
