Etyek Picnic in Etyek
Run twice yearly, in mid-April and October, by EtyekTrend Kft, the Etyek Picnic is a walking Gastro Promenade through a region known since the 1860s as Budapest's vineyard garden, sampling the sparkling wines and crisp whites its cooler microclimate produces. Many Budapest residents treat the short drive out as an easy half-day countryside escape built around the promenade format.
German settlers established viticulture in the Etyek area during the eighteenth century, and by the 1860s the region had become known as Budapest's vineyard garden, later tied closely to Torley sparkling wine production, which used Etyek base wine from the late nineteenth century onward.
