Gyula Palinka Festival in Gyula
Held in Gyula Castle's garden since 2000 under its original name Kisusti Palinka Festival, this three-day event was Hungary's first festival dedicated entirely to palinka, tracing the town's distilling history back to a 1731 Harruckern-founded distillery. Many exhibiting distilleries treat it as their primary annual venue for introducing new fruit-based palinka varieties to the public.
Baron Janos Gyorgy Harruckern founded the region's first distillery at Gyula Castle in 1731, giving the town a documented claim to nearly three centuries of continuous palinka production, a lineage the modern Gyula Palinka Festival draws on directly.
