Mad Furmint Festival in Mad
Mad, a first-growth village in the UNESCO-listed Tokaj wine landscape where Furmint covers roughly three-quarters of vineyard area, opens over thirty cellars each first weekend of September for tastings, craft demonstrations, and live concerts celebrating the grape. Many winemakers personally guide visitors through their own cellar's specific vineyard parcel history during the tastings.
Furmint, the classic dry white grape of the Tokaj wine region, dominates roughly three-quarters of the vineyard area around Mad, one of the historic first-growth villages within a wine region UNESCO recognizes as a World Heritage landscape.
