Szeged International Tisza Fish Festival in Szeged
Founded in 1997 to celebrate Szeged's halaszle fish soup tradition with a giant riverside cauldron cook, this festival ran at large scale along the Tisza for two decades before recent tensions between organizers and the city led to a much smaller replacement event.
Master chef Frank Sandor and Dezso Ferenczi organized the first Szeged Tisza Fish Festival in 1997, building it around preserving the city's halaszle fish soup traditions and encouraging fish consumption more broadly.
