Szekszard Harvest Days in Szekszard
Established by city council decision in 1967, Szekszard's four-day September Harvest Days combine a Wine Court tasting fair with a Saturday folk-costume parade and the election of a Szuret Dance Couple who represents the festival for the following year. Many participating families have taken part in the Saturday parade across multiple generations, passing down the same costumes and tools.
Szekszard's city council executive committee decided in 1967 to hold the first Szekszardi Szureti Napok on October 7 and 8, explicitly intending to establish a permanent annual tradition, a goal the event has met ever since by running each year on the third weekend of September.
