The story

Montpelier Agricultural and Industrial Show in Montpelier

Every Easter Monday, the Jamaica Agricultural Society's St James branch turns Montpelier Show Ground into a working exhibition of the parish's farms: prize cattle, hydroponic setups, a Farm Queen pageant and craft tables drawing more than ten thousand visitors for a day of judging, selling and rural culture close to Montego Bay.

Montpelier Show Ground in St James parish fills with cattle pens, hydroponic displays and craft tables every Easter Monday for a show the Jamaica Agricultural Society's St James branch has staged for more than four decades.

What is special

The part that makes it specific.

01

The place changes

The show's Farm Queen Competition and combined agricultural-and-industrial format distinguish Montpelier from single-focus produce fairs: livestock judging, hydroponic farming demonstrations, home economics displays and an auto and manufacturing showcase run side by side under one Easter Monday program

02

The mystery stays covered

Its 2025 staging was formally counted as the 42nd, giving it a continuous multi-decade run as St James parish's own agricultural show, separate from Clarendon's Denbigh Show and St Mary's Agri Expo

03

The city starts moving

The Grow What We Eat, Eat What We Grow theme reflects a food-security message JAS branches have pushed across several parish shows in recent years
