The story

Bolaven Coffee Festival in Paksong/Bolaven Plateau

Coffee and tea farmers from across the Bolaven Plateau gather in Paksong each year for a festival of free tastings, cupping sessions and a brewing competition at the Seethon Kommadam Monument. Around 70 exhibition booths showcase the plateau's coffee cooperatives, exporters and agricultural producers to visitors and buyers.

Arabica and robusta farmers from across the Bolaven Plateau haul their harvests, roasted beans and green stock into Paksong district each year for the Coffee, Tea and Agricultural Products Festival, held at the Seethon Kommadam Monument and organized by the Paksong District Government with backing from Champasak provincial authorities and the Lao Coffee Association.

What is special

The part that makes it specific.

01

The place changes

What distinguishes this festival from a general food or trade fair is its specific anchoring in the Bolaven Plateau's globally respected coffee-growing terroir, with cupping sessions run directly by the farmers who grew the beans, giving visitors direct access to growers rather than intermediaries

02

The mystery stays covered

Its scale, roughly 70 booths and 50 business units spanning cooperatives, exporters and banks, also makes it more of a regional economic showcase than a purely cultural celebration
