Sabile Wine Festival in Sabile
Sabile's wine festival centers on a genuine curiosity: the Sabile Wine Hill, a 1.5-hectare vineyard at 57 degrees latitude recognized by the Guinness Book of Records as among the world's northernmost. Running since 1999, the 27th edition takes place July 25-26, celebrating a vine-growing tradition traced back to the 16th century and restored in 1936, with cool-climate varieties including Zilga, Solaris, and Rondo grown on the slope.
Wine and the Baltic latitudes do not usually belong in the same sentence, which is exactly why Sabile has built a festival around the fact that they do.
