Kufra Oasis Heritage Festival in Kufra
The Kufra Oasis Heritage Festival launched in April 2026 at Al-Jawf Al-Gharbi Secondary School in southeastern Libya, celebrating the cultural heritage of the remote Kufra oasis region. Organized by Rashid Rafeh Saeed, founder of the Kufra Books library, the festival marks a new effort to document and showcase the traditions of one of Libya's most isolated desert communities.
Kufra sits far from Libya's Mediterranean coast, an oasis settlement in the country's remote southeast, closer in feel to the deep Sahara than to Tripoli or Benghazi.
