Nida Smelt Festival in Nida
Stintapukis turns the depths of Baltic winter into a smelt-fishing celebration across the Curonian Spit, with its biggest program in Nida. Fishermen from Pervalka demonstrate traditional ice-hole bumping technique, market stalls fry smelt and sell regional crafts, and folk dance, ice sledging and old-style curved-stick ice hockey fill out a weekend built around one small fish and old Curonian winter customs.
Winter on the Curonian Spit has its own culinary calendar, and smelt sit at the top of it.
