Malta International Kite Festival in Ghadira/Mellieha
The Malta International Kite Festival is held at Ghadira Bay in Mellieha, Malta's longest sandy beach, drawing kite flyers from Malta and abroad to fly large decorative, sport and novelty kites over the open beach and adjoining nature reserve. Held over a weekend, it combines expert kite displays with space for the public to fly kites of their own.
Ghadira Bay, known to English speakers mainly as Mellieha Bay, stretches as Malta's longest sandy beach along the island's northern coast, backed by the Ghadira Nature Reserve where migratory birds stop on their journeys between Europe and Africa.
