Festa Frawli in Mgarr
Festa Frawli, the Strawberry Festival, is held each spring in the main square outside the parish church in Mgarr, a town known across Malta for its exceptionally sweet strawberries grown thanks to fertile local soil and a favourable microclimate. The 2026 edition falls on 12 April, offering fresh strawberries alongside jams, desserts, drinks and even strawberry wine from local farmers.
Mgarr sits in one of Malta's more fertile agricultural pockets, and over generations the town built a reputation among Maltese shoppers and cooks for producing some of the sweetest strawberries grown anywhere on the island, a distinction locals attribute to the particular combination of soil quality and microclimate found in the area.
