Delicata Classic Wine Festival in Upper Barrakka/Nadur
The Delicata Classic Wine Festival, hosted by Malta's oldest family-run winemaker, reaches its 23rd edition from 7 to 9 August 2026 at the Upper Barrakka Gardens in Valletta. Over three nights, visitors sample more than twenty Delicata wines, including semi-sparkling Frizzante wines made from the rare native Girgentina and Gellewza grape varieties, against a backdrop of live music and views over the Grand Harbour.
Malta's winemaking history stretches back further than most visitors assume, and two grape varieties in particular carry that history in their names: Girgentina, a white grape long associated with the island's own vineyards, and Gellewza, a red variety grown on old bush vines that remain rare finds even within Malta itself.
