Nouadhibou Sea and Fish Festival in Nouadhibou
This event corresponds to the Festival Mer et Littoral, or Sea and Coastal Festival, a three-day event organized by the Association Biodiversite Culturelle at the artisanal fishing port of Nouadhibou. It raises awareness of marine biodiversity among the roughly 4,000 people who work daily at the port, combining conferences, environmental education, and exhibitions from fishing companies and conservation groups.
Nouadhibou is Mauritania's second city and its most important fishing port, sitting on a peninsula shared with Western Sahara and drawing its economic identity almost entirely from the rich Atlantic fishing grounds offshore.
