The story

Festivalul Vinului de Autor in Chisinau

Festivalul Vinului de Autor is Moldova's only wine festival built exclusively around signature wines that individual winemakers personally sign on each bottle. Its third edition runs September 6-7 in the courtyard of the National Museum of History of Moldova, bringing together more than 40 wineries pouring limited-edition wines rarely available at retail, alongside live music, guided tastings and a keepsake branded glass.

Wine festivals are common enough in Moldova, a country whose vineyards stretch across a large share of its arable land, but Festivalul Vinului de Autor occupies a narrower niche than most.

What is special

The part that makes it specific.

01

The place changes

The festival's defining feature is its focus on signature wines: bottles that individual winemakers sign personally as a mark of authorship, a practice that treats winemaking as an individual craft rather than an industrial output

02

The mystery stays covered

That framing sets Festivalul Vinului de Autor apart from Moldova's larger wine events, which tend to showcase whole wineries rather than individual makers

03

The city starts moving

Held in the courtyard of the National Museum of History of Moldova, the setting adds historical weight to the tastings

04

The water draws everyone in

More than 40 wineries pour wines that are typically limited-edition and rarely found on store shelves, meaning attendees can taste bottles unavailable through ordinary retail

05

The old stones answer

Guided tastings help visitors navigate the unfamiliar labels, live music keeps the courtyard lively between pours, and every attendee leaves with a keepsake branded glass
