Petrovacka Lignjada in Petrovac
Petrovacka Lignjada, the Squid Festival, is a fall gastronomic event in which local fishermen compete for the day's squid catch while the Petrovac waterfront turns into a fair of fresh calamari, olive oil tastings and klapa singing. The festival promotes the culinary and musical traditions of the Pastrovici region, the historical area surrounding Petrovac on Montenegro's Budva Riviera.
Petrovacka Lignjada takes its name directly from lignje, the Montenegrin word for squid, and the festival is built around the day's actual catch rather than a pre-arranged seafood menu.
