The story

Gisborne Wine and Food Festival in Gisborne

The Gisborne Wine and Food Festival brings together the wineries of Tairawhiti on New Zealand's East Coast, the first region in the world to see each day's sunrise. Held among vineyards in the warmth of the New Zealand summer, the festival pairs the region's celebrated chardonnay and gewurztraminer with local seafood, Maori kai and produce from Gisborne's growers, set to live music.

Long before Gisborne became known for chardonnay, the region local iwi call Tairawhiti, the place where the sun shines on the water, was already prized for the way morning arrives here first.

The water draws everyone in

A free shuttle bus links the winery to the Gisborne i-Site in town, making the vineyard setting easy to reach without driving
