Beervana in Wellington
Beervana is Wellington's premier craft beer festival, tracing back to a 2001 industry expo before its 2008 rebrand, and now drawing 14,000 to 16,000 visitors over two days at Wellington Regional Stadium to sample beers from breweries across New Zealand.
Beervana's history stretches back further than its current name suggests, beginning in 2001 as the NZ Beer Expo, an event run by the New Zealand Beer, Wine and Spirits Council and deliberately scheduled to follow the NZ Brewers Guild Awards, so that brewers could pour their leftover competition beer for the public soon after judging concluded.
